The build quality is pretty low, canon is making a lot of money on this one. The switch arrived timely and is doing the job I hoped it would.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from It works I had ordered the RC-1 wireless remote first, thinking it would be better because there is not a chord. Canon A add-on savings. It also has a shutter-release lock. Missing an N3 port, the Rebel series 4xxD models as of this writing are not compatible. The L-shaped plug however faces degree the wrong way on my 40D, IE the L faces to the front of the camera. They really need to make this cord 5ft long.

I did this because in 5 years of heavy professional use I had never once used the timer function of the original, far more expensive, TCN3. The Canon Remote Switch RSN3 is very light but relatively expensive but valuable to own – it is a valuable piece of kit to have.
I did not like the price tag, but know fully well that with Canon you get what you pay for. Similar item at lower price: So, it’s good for self portraits and test shots but I wanted something that would allow me to still be able to look through the viewfinder behind the camera and line up my shot and get a picture with no camera shake. You expect to get what you ordered and you want to pay a low price for it. This ingenious device is a must have if you shoot long exposures. You could use the camera’s built-in self-timer, but your subject may be long manuxl until it fires.
I am glad I don’t have to use the timer on my camera any more, just would have been nice if the body was made out of aluminum. Comments have been made in other reviews about the construction of the RS.
Where you buy your gear matters. The plug locks onto the camera until you tug on the locking remoye it’s simple and very effective. The RSN3 does not require any batteries which is nice.

Thus, I depend solely on the commissions received from you using the links on this site to make any purchase.
Will not trigger the camera in video mode. Feels like it is made out of hallow plastic and probably is. Like the camera’s shutter release, the RSN3 supports a half-press or full press – which releases the shutter. There are times you need to garantee your composition doesn’t budge the slightest bit – the RSN3 is the tool to ensure just that. Only compatible in still mode. I don’t like to have potential problems lurking in my camera bag so this really causes me anxiety.
If you’re shooting HDR images multiple exposures or anything that requires absolute sharpness product shots this will do the job. Rated 5 out danon 5 by Jonnn from very handy I love this remote switch.
In less than a year the rubber wire attachment at the top of the remote has opened up and exposed the copper wiring underneath. Happy New Year ! They break fast I know.
