The plot covers Strahd’s background, his choice vampird become a vampire, and his path from that choice to his weird existence surrounded by zombies in a trashed castle.

Another bonus to the journal entry, first person perspective is that you aren’t really sure if what happened really happened that way. Strahd is just a wonderful character. This book was a lot better than expected.

Not a bad book actually, though a little slow. Despite dying hundreds of times and having apparently “very different” personalities each time, Vaampire never remembers Strahd was the one who murdered her beau and never takes revenge against him, which is lame.

However, the Ravenloft novel line was discontinued in the late ‘s, and was brought back under the new title of Ravenloft Covenant in the mid ‘s and I, Strahd: But is Strahd desperate enough to do unspeakable things and live with their consequences? I would never have possibly guessed that the word how could be asking someone to explain themselves!

This is a very well-written, compelling story of how Strahd became what he is. Other books in the series. It should be safe to listen to and not spoil anything.
